Outdoor Activities

Health and Fitness is not just limited to the time you spend in the gym. We believe a balance between outdoor and indoor activities contribute to a full active lifestyle. Because of this we offer many outdoor activities for our members.

Hiking Club
On Saturdays, the TR Hiking Club meets for a variety of on-site and off-site hiking trips. Hikes range from easy to difficult, with distances ranging from 3 – 12 miles. Off-site hikes include outings to Thumb Butte, Lynx Lake, Mingus Mountain and Sedona. Club members communicate weekly via e-mail for hiking schedules and meeting times.

Jake's Corner Dog Park
In conjunction with the Home Owners Association, Talking Rock offers a community dog park called Jake’s Corner. The park is perfect for all types and sizes of four-legged friends to exercise and socialize. Throughout the summer, pet owners meet for Thursday “Yappy Hour” and other weekly get-togethers with fellow dog lovers. The Club also promotes dog-walking on the community trail system, offering over 8 miles of easy strolling and sniffing.

Fishing At The Windmill Pond
Head over to the Windmill Pond for some summertime fishing. Adjacent to the 9th and 18th fairways, the pond is stocked with bass and bluegill for catch-and-release fishing. The area north of the pond is also open for fishing when the golf course is not in use (early mornings and late afternoons depending on activity).

Bike Club
Both mountain bikers and road cyclists meet each Sunday between 8am -10am (depending on the season) for rides within the community and off-site. Talking Rock has a limited number of bikes for member use located near the Fitness Center and COOP’s Coffee Shop. The Club also offers maintenance and equipment seminars during the summer, and special outings in conjunction with Prescott area riding clubs.

Community Garden
We offer residents the opportunity to try their green thumb in our very own community garden with ten 12-foot by 4-foot plots located just west of the dog park. The plots are limited, therefore a lottery is held each year to reserve spaces. There is a small fee to help cover the cost for watering.

Field Trips
The Prescott region is alive with special events and activities of all kinds. Talking Rock has hosted field trips for members to the Prescott Rodeo, celebrity concerts and even an Arizona Cardinal bus trip to a home game in Glendale. We plan a variety of trips during the year, and will keep you informed of all upcoming outings.
